As a seasoned PADI Instructor, you become a master of instructor-level dive theory, knowledge development teaching presentations and confined water teaching presentations. Also, you help bring up the next generation of PADI Instructors while gaining in-depth instructor-trainer knowledge. What does it cover? The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the cornerstone of PADI’s professional-level training. The course focuses on preparing you to function as a PADI Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor by introducing you to the complete PADI System. The course focuses your ability to use all components of the system as a professional dive educator. How does it work? After enrolling, there are interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and correct anything you might happen to miss. This lets you move through the program efficiently and at your own pace. What does it cost? The PADI Instructor Development Course online is $320 (US) non-refundable. The fee covers nine separate topics online to prepare you for the practical sessions needed to complete your Assistant Instructor course or Open Water Scuba Instructor course. The two programs combined is the full IDC. After completion of the OWSI course or full IDC, you must successfully complete a PADI Instructor Examination (IE) and also be a CPR & first aid instructor before certification as an Open Water Scuba Instructor. Your PADI Career Development Centre, 5 Star Instructor Development Centre or authorized Course Director or IDC Staff Instructor will charge an additional fee for the practical sessions of your training. There is an Assistant Instructor application fee or an IDC registration fee and IE fee that must be paid to PADI for processing. You will also need to purchase an IDC Crew-Pak and have a current PADI Instructor Manual depending on how recently you may have completed your PADI Divemaster course. There are also other required materials and personal dive equipment that you may already have. Your Course Director or IDC Staff Instructor will guide you through this process and may suggest additional materials or dive equipment that are necessary or need to be upgraded. How long do you have to complete the e-Learning course? The eLearning course will be available for one year from the time of course registration. Will taking the PADI Instructor Development Course online reduce the costs of my course at Barefoot Scuba? Barefoot Scuba IDC candidates may now take advantage of the e-Learning option so that there is more time to devote to in-water sessions and workshops. Should you choose to go for this option, the price on the IDC package you choose will be reduced by Rs. 4,500 by Barefoot scuba.
