The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the most comprehensive instructor program in the diving industry. The course sets the bar high and allows you to apply all the knowledge and skills you have gained so far in the various PADI courses. During this course you also learn to use the PADI system of diving education to its fullest while constantly bearing in mind the needs of the student. The PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) comprises of two components. These two components can be taken either separately or together in one course. They are: - The Assistant Instructor Course (AI)
- Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)
The Assistant Instructor course (AI) is a 4-day program that builds upon your Divemaster training and begins your formation as an instructional assistant in academic teaching and in confined & open water training. Successfully completing this course earns an AI certification and qualifies the AI to continue on to an OWSI program. The second portion of the IDC is the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. This 5-day program gradually develops the student’s abilities as a dive educator and backs the theory and knowledge development with practicals in water training. Successful completion of the program means you can then take the Instructor Examination (1E) and become a successful PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. The AI course can be conducted as part of the PADI IDC or as a stand-alone program. Most students tend to take it along with the PADI IDC as a natural step further to the Divemaster program. |
